Elheist (Elizabeth Osaguona, born February 4, 1994, London) is a British-Nigerian artist, writer, and sonic architect whose work bends the rules of genre, gender, and geography. Raised in New Cross, South London, she began writing at 13, cutting her teeth through spoken word, open mic nights, and youth workshops where she discovered the transformative power of voice. That early ethos still shapes her practice: a belief in language, rhythm, and presence as tools for change.

 

Before stepping into music, Elheist completed a degree in English Language and Communication with Sociology, grounding her creative output in critical inquiry and cultural analysis.

 

Her sound spans grime’s skeletal tension, the chaos of experimental club, and the emotional distortion of electronic soul. Whether rapping, singing, or speaking through layered glitch and warped loops, she conjures a space that’s intimate, confrontational, and culturally unflinching.

 

In 2017, she released her first track. Her debut EP Wholesome Goody (2020) marked a turning point in her sonic evolution, offering a genre-warped exploration of self-love, softness, and Black womanhood. Pressed to limited-edition vinyl by The Vinyl Factory in 2021, it blended alternative R&B, club-rooted production, and poetic clarity.

 

Her breakout single Done Talking sharpened that voice further. Glitch-heavy, lyrically coded, and rhythmically daring, it reprogrammed rather than reflected the UK soundscape. Her influences span left-field grime, post-rap experimentation, and a deep emotional undercurrent.

 

Beyond recorded music, Elheist is a DJ/selector, curator, and community builder. Her NTS Radio residency Quest No More w/ Elheist braids field recordings, poetry, underground club textures, and ancestral rhythms into sonic essays. She has curated and headlined events including her own Boiler Room night (Goody Central) and performed across the UK and Europe, from La Casa Encendida in Madrid and Les Halles de Schaerbeek in Brussels to Scala and Southbank Centre in London - also appearing as a model, talent, and on-screen presence, with sync placements in independent films and fashion campaigns. At every turn, Elheist prioritises collaboration and care. She continues to centre community, platform peers and collaborates across disciplines, cultivating spaces where sound, identity, and resistance meet.
